Job Summary
My Georgetown Handyman is seeking a reliable and skilled handyman (and women) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be prompt, courteous, and proactive, and able to perform a variety of maintenance, repair, and installation tasks. This role requires a broad skill set, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general repairs. It also requires dependable transportation and the usual complement of handyman tools. Specialty tools will be provided when necessary. It does not require an electrical or plumbing license.
Responsibilities:
- Able to complete general home repairs and maintenance work in a timely manner.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on various components of buildings, equipment, and fixtures, including plumbing, electrical systems, doors, windows, and trim, as part of a team or solo.
- Install, repair, or replace wooden structures, cabinets, shelves, trim, and other carpentry components using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Repair leaks, clogs, and other plumbing problems in sinks, toilets, faucets, and pipes. Plumbing tasks would not require a license.
- Replace outlets, switches, and light fixtures, ceiling fans, and perform other minor electrical repairs. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working with electrical systems. Electrical tasks would not require a license.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, apply paint or wallpaper, and perform minor drywall repairs to maintain or enhance the appearance of interior and exterior spaces.
- Replace light bulbs, repair door locks, lubricate hinges, and address other minor repairs.
- Install various fixtures, furniture, and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and specifications and the client’s request.
- Repair masonry and stucco cracks using best-practices.
- Interact with clients in a professional and courteous manner, addressing their concerns and providing updates on projects in a timely manner.
- Notify clients and management immediately when encountering issues that could change the scope of a project.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Reliability is critical, and there will be zero tolerance for no shows.
- Experience in any carpentry trade and general maintenance.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or equivalent on-the-job training a bonus.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of construction and safety regulations.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills.
- Attention to detail and precision in work.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials (40lbs or more).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license, tools, and a dependable vehicle
- Patience.
